Cider 101

Cider 101

Our very first cider has hit the shelves!
Cider 101 - it's a lesson in a can.

  • History:
The ancient Greeks & Phoenicians enjoyed cider. It naturally spread throughout all of Europe, becoming very popular under the Normans during their conquests.
  • Carbonation:
Natural carbonation sometimes increased under pressure with CO2. There are also still & petillant varieties.
  • Colour:
Pale straw to golden yellow, salmon, apricot, or amber.
  • Alcohol:
    Typically 5%-8%.
  • Made from:
Traditionally apples, other fruits can be added for colour & flavour. This cider is a blend of these apple varieties: Ambrosia, Ida red, Spy, Matzu, Red Delicious.
  • Aroma:
Apple fragrances - altered by added yeasts, other fruits, sprices, adjuncts.
  • Flavour:
    Apple flavours, sweet to tart.
  • Mouthfeel:
    Refreshing & thirst quenching.
  • Pairs with:
Pork chops with apple sauce, mild curries, cheeses.
